You don't have to be a lawyer to help VLP provide legal aid to people in Maine!
We depend on community volunteers to help us help others. We provide extensive training and
support to our volunteers, so you don't need to be a legal expert. It's a great way to learn
about the law and help make sure every Mainer has equal access to our justice system.
Legal Hotline - Our statewide Legal Hotline is staffed entirely by volunteers who
are trained, supervised and supported by VLP staff. Volunteers answer phones in our Portland
office, conducting client intake interviews and providing assistance and information to callers on their
legal problems. Volunteer shifts are three hours long (mornings Monday - Friday or
afternoons Monday - Thursday).

Legal Hotline Volunteer Application.
