Law Student Volunteer Opportunities

Law student volunteers are critical to VLP's work of providing legal help to people throughout Maine. Volunteering with VLP is a great hands-on complement to your law classes, helping you develop client skills, substantive law expertise and giving you the chance to start helping others.

  • First and second-year law students - Help us staff our Legal Hotline or participate other Community Volunteer activities.

  • Third-year law students - In addition to the opportunities open to first and second-year students, third-years with Legal Hotline experience can volunteer on the Family Law Helpline.

  • Internships and Externships - VLP hosts both law student interns and externs during the school year and over the summer. All internships include shifts on the Legal Hotline in addition to specialized project work. For more information, see the Internships and Externships page.
