How You Can Help

VLP is a small nonprofit legal aid organization that serves as a nexus between attorneys who wish to provide pro bono legal services and individuals who need help with civil legal matters but cannot afford to hire an attorney. Volunteering is at the very core of VLP’s mission!

VLP provides a wide range of volunteer opportunities for attorneys. Students (law students and undergraduate) and community members can provide crucial support to our work as well. Please read on for more information, and thank you for your interest in volunteering with the VLP!

For Attorneys

The need for pro bono legal services in Maine is vast. VLP acts as a nexus, connecting pro bono attorneys with Maine people who would otherwise be dealing with a civil legal issue on their own.

Summer internships are an integral part of our services. VLP provides unique opportunities to learn more about the legal system while serving vulnerable populations in one’s community.
