Information about General Matters

General matters that we may be able help with include Bankruptcy, Probate, End-of-Life documents (advance directives, POAs, wills), SSDI/SSI denial appeals, unemployment insurance denial appeals, and other civil legal issues. Please click the button below to fill out a General Intake Request.

If you have a probate matter (someone has passed away, and their property needs to be distributed), before you request our help, be sure to contact the probate court in the county where the person lived for assistance. Most of the time, you do not need any attorney to start or contest the probate process. The probate court staff can assist you with forms and process. You can locate the correct court and find forms and other information at https://www.maineprobate.net/welcome/. If you still need legal help after contacting the court, you can submit an intake request form above.

If you have a social security disability or SSI appeal, please note that we may be able to help only if your case is at the Administrative Law Judge hearing stage (you have been denied Reconsideration) on your current application. If you have been denied at the initial application stage, you should request Reconsideration and contact us only if your application is denied at that second stage.

If you need our help but cannot complete the online intake form, please click here for other ways to request our help. The fastest and best way to request our services is through the online intake request form.

Please use the intake forms on these pages if you have any of the following types of cases:
